Salla Hiltunen and Sanaz Afsari
: from Master’s students to full-time employees
We are happy to welcome Salla Hiltunen and Sanaz Afsari to Cerenion’s team! Both Salla and Sanaz joined us already in May 2022, first as trainees, who also wrote their Master’s theses while working on Cerenion’s R&D projects. Both have done great, and also turned out to be valuable coworkers, so we are happy to engage them in permanent roles: Sanaz as Software Engineer and Salla as Technical Writer. In addition, Salla also contributes to Cerenion’s HR and marketing communications.
"The process of writing the thesis was challenging at times, but it was also tremendously fulfilling", says Salla. In her work, she examined EEG from a variety of angles and investigated the potential applications of Federated Learning, a cutting-edge machine learning technique. "I will always be grateful for the chance to complete my master's thesis under Cerenion's guidance. Taking the opportunity to continue my journey here felt more than right. My two interests—technical topics and writing—are combined in my current position. I get to work on a range of subjects, which aids in my quest to continue specializing in this field", says Salla.
As for Sanaz, she wrote her master’s thesis on seizure detection, which has prepared her for her new role as a Software Engineer. Developing future versions of the C-Trend EEG analysis software is a natural next step on her way to professional growth. "As a biomedical engineer deeply intrigued by medical technology, I can't express how thrilled I am to be part of this groundbreaking research. And being part of this amazing team at Cerenion has been such a joy! They've been incredibly supportive throughout, and I'm truly grateful to collaborate with such wonderful people. It's like being part of a big, encouraging family, and I couldn't be happier about it", says Sanaz.
